As a traditional Turkish dessert, Turkish delight has been known in Anatolia since the 15th century. It became known in Europe from the 18th century when an English traveler introduced this dessert, which he took with him, as "Turkish Delight". There are many types of Turkish delight such as double roasted Turkish delight, Turkish delight pistachio, Turkish delight rose , Turkish delight candy, Turkish delight chocolate. So do we know how to make Turkish delight? Although there are many different recipe for Turkish delight, we will include a recipe for Turkish delight that can be made easily at home.
First, put 3 glasses of granulated sugar and 3 glasses of water in a pot. Add lemon salt with the tip of a teaspoon and 1 teaspoon of cream tartar on it. Melt well and leave to boil over medium heat. In the meantime, take the foams formed in the pot with a paper napkin.
Add the starchy mortar to the syrup slowly that starts to boil and then mix. When it starts to boil well, reduce the heat, but continue to mix frequently. Otherwise, it may stick to the bottom. The consistency of the mixture will begin to thicken as it boils. After boiling for half an hour on low heat, turn on a little high heat, add a teaspoon of finely grated lemon peel and continue boiling for another 15 minutes, but do not stop stirring this time. This way, the Turkish delight will be cooked for 45 minutes in total.
Pour the cooked and yellowed Turkish delight into the bowl. After waiting for about 1 hour at room temperature, cover it with cling film, put it in the refrigerator and refrigerate for 1 night. Cut the Turkish delight you take out of the refrigerator into the shape of a square or rectangle in the size you wish. Mix three tablespoons of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of starch and pour some of it over the Turkish delight. Spread well on the Turkish delight with the back of a spoon.
Transfer the Turkish delight into this container with a knife by turning it over and thoroughly smear all the Turkish delight pieces into the mixture. Your Turkish delight is ready to eat with its fragrant scent. Enjoy your Turkish delight!
