Kula is located on the road from Izmir to Usak. Although the rugs made there resembles the rugs of Gordes, Kula has developed its own style by the vertical arrangements of the motifs. Kula weavers also created carpets with very dark ground known as Komurcu Kula. Due to their quality, Kula rugs have became one of the most desired carpets in foreign countries in last 150 years. Present day weavers of this town not only reproduce the splendid Kulas of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries but also weave authentically Anatolian designs with soft pastel colors.
